Encaustic Cement Tile Handmade Decorative Cement Tile for Bathrooms, Kitchens & Hallways
Encaustic tiles have been admired since the 12th century, gracing palaces, churches, and grand European homes. Today, they’re experiencing a well‑deserved revival — celebrated for their depth of colour, artisanal charm, and unmistakable presence in contemporary interior design.
Our handmade encaustic cement tiles honour this heritage while offering a refined, modern interpretation. Each tile is crafted using traditional inlaid techniques, where mineral pigments are hand‑poured into a patterned mould before being hydraulically pressed. The result is a tile with colour that runs deep into the surface, ensuring long‑lasting vibrancy and a beautifully natural, velvety finish.
Whether used to create a bold feature floor, a decorative splashback, or a full room transformation, these tiles bring sophistication, warmth, and a sense of craftsmanship that machine‑made tiles simply cannot replicate.

Installation Guide (Simplified & Professional)
For best results, encaustic tiles should be installed by an experienced professional.
Surface Preparation
- Ensure the substrate is perfectly level, clean, and completely dry.
- Never install onto fresh or damp concrete, as moisture can cause white salt deposits.
Laying the Tiles
- Apply adhesive using a fine‑tooth comb and butter the back of each tile.
- Lay tiles by hand only — do not use a hammer or mallet.
- Maintain a minimal joint of 1–2 mm for a clean, refined finish.
- Align patterns carefully, as encaustic tiles cannot be polished down after installation.
Cleaning After Installation
- Once the adhesive is dry, wash the surface with plenty of clean water to remove pigment dust.
Treatment & Sealing (Fila Recommended)
We recommend Fila MP90 Eco Xtreme for sealing and protecting your tiles.
